一 . Teaching aims and demands:

五 . Teaching steps:

Step 1 Revision

1 Revise the words in Step 1,Lesson 34,using flashcards.Add the words aunt and uncle.

2 Put the following names on the Bb: Jim,Kate,Harry Green,Jean Green,Mr Green,Mrs Green and John,Hand out the flashcards.Point to one name(Jim Green) and say What word is right?Any student with a card that he or she thinks is right can hold up the card.Point to a card with a correct answer (Brother) and say,Is Jim Green a brother?Help the students to answer Yes,he’s Kate’s brother.Point to a different card (son)and say Is Jim Green a son?(Yes,he’s Mr Green’s son.) and so on .

3 Revise the dialogues in Lesson 34.Get some students to act without the books.

4 Revise some greetings and introductions.

5 Remind the students to bring in some family photos for the next class.

Step 2 Read and say

SB Page 43.Part 1,Speech Cassette Lesson 35.Ask What can you see in the picture?(Mr Green and Li Lei.)Where are they?(Jim’s home.)Play the tape and let the students listen and repeat.

Get three students to read and act the dialogue.Then divide the class into groups of three,and get them to read it again.Revise that we say Good afternoon instead of Good morning after midday--between noon and about 6 P.m . Explain that Please have a seat is often said instead of Sit down,please.The meaning the same.

Step 3 Presentation

Say:Look at Page 43.Part 2.What can you see in the pictures?(Jim,LiLei,Mrs Green,Kate.)Where are they?(Jim’s home).Read the dialogue aloud to the students.Point out that Glad to meet you means the same as Nice to meet you.Point to the dots after Li Lei’s name on page 43.Help the students to answer for Li Lei.They may give more than one correct answer but remind them that Li Lei is talking to an adult so he will be more formal . He would say Hello , insted of Hi . This is not necessary when he is talking to Kate .

Step 4 Read and act

Get the students to work in groups of four , to complete the the dialogue in Part 2 . They should practise several times and be prepare to act in front of the class . Get several groups to act their dialogues for the class . Tell the students to listen to see if the dialogues are the same or different .

Step 5 Read and say

SB Page 43 , Part 3 , Speech Cassette Lesson 35 . Draw a cat on the Bb . Say This is Lucy`s cat . Do you know its name ? It is Mimi , M-I-M-I . Write Mimi on the Bb and have the students repeat . Play the tape and get the students to practise reading in the usual way .

Step 6 Acting

Get the class to imagine that they are visiting Jim or any of the other characters at their home . Get them to act out similar conversations .

Step 7 Game

Show the cards of the words missing some letters . ( s_ _t lo_k f_mily _nglish p_r_nt l_ ke _ngland aftern_ _n d_ _ghter a_nt _ncle etc. )

Get some students to answer What`s missing ? and then repeat the words together .

Step 8 Workbook

SB Page 131 , Wb Lesson 35 . Ex . 1 can be done as homework . Do Ex . 3 in class and cope all the words in the exercise book . Ex . 4 is optional .

Homework

Revise the dialogues in SB Lesson 35 . Write Ex. 1in the exercise book .
