友誼的顏色
Once upon a time the colors of the world started to quarrel. All claimed that they were the best. The most important.The most useful.The favorite.
從前，世界上的各種顏色進(jìn)行過(guò)一次爭吵。每一種顏色都說(shuō)自己是最好的,最重要的，最有用的,和最討人喜歡的。
Green said: "Clearly I am the most important. I am the sign of life and of hope. I was chosen for grass, trees and leaves. Without me, all animals would die. Look over the countryside and you will see that I am in the majority."
綠色說(shuō)：“顯然，我是最重要的。我是生命和希望的標志。我被選作青草，樹(shù)木以及葉子的顏色。沒(méi)有了我，所有的動(dòng)物都會(huì )死去。展望田野吧，你會(huì )看到，到處都有我。”
Blue interrupted: "You only think about the earth, but consider the sky and the sea. It is the water that is the basis of life and drawn up by the clouds from the deep sea. Without my peace, you would all be nothing."

Orange started next to blow her trumpet: "I am the color of health and strength. I may be scarce, but I am precious for I serve the needs of human life. I carry the most important vitamins. Think of carrots, pumpkins, oranges, mangoes, and papayas. I don't hang around all the time, but when I fill the sky at sunrise or sunset, my beauty is so striking that no one gives another thought to any of you."
橙色馬上開(kāi)始自吹自擂：“我可是健康和力量的顏色。我可能比較稀少，但是我非常寶貴，因為我滿(mǎn)足了人們生活的需要。我攜帶了大多數重要的維他命。想想胡羅卜、南瓜、柑橘、芒果和番木瓜。我并不經(jīng)常出沒(méi)在天空，但日出或日落我在天際登場(chǎng)時(shí)，我的美麗足以驚世，沒(méi)有人還會(huì )想起你們。”
Red couldn't stand it no longer he shouted out: "I am the ruler of all of you. I am blood - life's blood! I am the color of danger and of bravery. I am willing to fight for a cause. I bring fire into the blood. Without me, the earth would be as empty as the moon. I am the color of passion and of love, the red rose, the poinsettia and the poppy.

Purple rose up to his full height: He was very tall and spoke with great pomp: "I am the color of royalty and power. Kings, chiefs, and bishops have always chosen me for I am the sign of authority and wisdom. People do not question me! They listen and obey."

Finally Indigo spoke, much more quietly than all the others, but with just as much determination: "Think of me. I am the color of silence. You hardly notice me, but without me you all become superficial. I represent thought and reflection, twilight and deep water. You need me for balance and contrast, for prayer and inner peace."

And so the colors went on boasting, each convinced of his or her own superiority. Their quarreling became louder and louder. Suddenly there was a startling flash of bright lightening thunder rolled and boomed. Rain started to pour down relentlessly. The colors crouched down in fear, drawing close to one another for comfort.

In the midst of the clamor, rain began to speak: "You foolish colors, fighting amongst yourselves, each trying to dominate the rest. Don't you know that you were each made for a special purpose, unique and different? Join hands with one another and come to me."

Doing as they were told, the colors united and joined hands. The rain continued: "From now on, when it rains, each of you will stretch across the sky in a great bow of color as a reminder that you can all live in peace. The Rainbow is a sign of hope for tomorrow." And so, whenever a good rain washes the world, and a Rainbow appears in the sky, let us remember to appreciate one another.

Friendship 關(guān)于友誼
Friends play an important part in our lives, and although we may take the friendship for granted, we often don't clearly understand how we make friends. While we get on well with a number of people, we are usually friends with only a very few, for example, the average among students is about 6 per person. In all the cases of friendly relationships, two people like one another and enjoy being together, but beyond that, the degree of intimacy between them and the reasons for their shared interest vary enormously. As we get to know people we take into account things like age, race, economic condition, social position, and intelligence. Although these factors are not of prime importance, it is more difficult to get on with people when there is a marked difference in age and background.

Some friendly relationships can be kept on argument and discussion, but it is usual for close friends to have similar ideas and beliefs, to have attitudes and interests in common—they often talk about "being on the same wavelength". It generally takes time to reach this point. And the more intimately involved people become, the more they rely on one another. People want to do friends favors and hate to break a promise. Equally, friends have to learn to put up with annoying habits and to tolerate differences of opinion.
有些朋友關(guān)系能在相互爭論和討論中維持。但親密的'朋友通常有著(zhù)相似的觀(guān)點(diǎn)和信仰，相同的見(jiàn)解和興趣——就是常說(shuō)的“志趣相投”，要達到這種境界，一般需要很長(cháng)時(shí)間的磨合。而且，彼此關(guān)系越密切，依賴(lài)性就越強烈。人們總希望朋友間互幫互助，憎惡背信棄義。同樣，朋友間必須學(xué)會(huì )容忍對方的壞習性，并接受對方的不同觀(guān)點(diǎn)。
In contrast with marriage, there are no friendship ceremonies to strengthen the association between two people. But the supporting and understanding of each other that results from shared experiences and emotions does seem to create a powerful bond, which can overcome differences in background, and break down barriers of age, class or race.
與婚姻相反的是，友誼沒(méi)有儀式來(lái)強化二者的關(guān)系。但是，基于雙方共同的經(jīng)歷，情感而產(chǎn)生的理解和支持，能克服背景的差異，年齡的界限，打破性別，階層與種族的屏障，把二人牢牢地拴在一起。

And a youth said, Speak to us of Friendship,
And he answered, saying:
Your friend is your needs answered.
He is your field which you sow with love and reap with thanksgiving.
And he is your board and your fireside.
For you come to him with your hunger, and you seek him for peace.
When your friend speaks his mind you fear not the ‘nay’ in your own mind, nor do you withhold the ‘a(chǎn)y’.
And when he is silent your heart ceases not listen to his heart;
For without words, in friendship, all thoughts, all desires, all expectation are born and shared, with joy that is unclaimed.
When you part from your friend, you grieve not;
For that which you love most in him may be clearer in his absence, as the mountain to the climber is clearer from the plain.
And let there be no purpose in friendship save the deepening of the spirit.
For love that seeks aught but the disclosure of its own mystery is not love but a net cast forth; and only the unprofitable is caught.
And let your best be for your friend.
If he must know the ebb of your tide, let him know its flood also.
For what is your friend that you should seek him with hours to kill?
Seek him always with hours to live.
For it is his to fill your need, but not your emptiness.
And in the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures.
For in the dew of little things that heart finds its morning and is refreshed.
一個(gè)青年接著(zhù)說(shuō)，請為我們談?wù)動(dòng)颜x。

不要對你們的'友誼別有所圖，除了追尋心靈的深耕外。
因為只求表露自我而別無(wú)所求的愛(ài)，并非真愛(ài)，而是撒出的網(wǎng)，捕獲的盡是些無(wú)益的東西。
奉獻你最好的東西，給你的朋友。
若他定要知道你情緒的落潮期，那么，把你的漲潮期一并告訴他。
因為，你若只是為了消磨時(shí)光才去尋找朋友，這能算你的朋友嗎?
總該邀朋友共享生命才是。
因為朋友要帶給你滿(mǎn)足的需求，而不是填滿(mǎn)你的空虛。

因為在細微事物的露珠中，你的心會(huì )找到換發(fā)一新的晨曦。
